French government pass legislation to regulate esports player contracts
sports have made it into the French law books, as the government has now passed legislation regulating esports players contracts. A brief description of the law tells us contracts must be between a 12 month to 5 year period, although there will be certain exceptions when it comes to substitutions and suspensions. One of the biggest announcements of the legislation however is the age limit now being enforced. Players under 12 are not able to compete in monetised tournaments.
TCL Chinese Theatre and Hammers Esports Create “Hollywood Esports”
Esports is now hitting Hollywood! The TCL Chinese Theatre and Hammers eSports have combined to make a „home town team“ in Los Angeles named Hollywood eSports. The Hammers were already a well known esports franchise competing in Overwatch, Vainglory and Clash Royale tournaments. The team will now take pride in knowing they can call one of Hollywoods most iconic venues their new arena.

Living Essentials, LLC, the makers of the drink, recently announced the companies sponsorship of Counter Logic Gaming (CLG). 5-hour ENERGY® targeted North America’s top esports organization with the hopes of continuously growing their name within the esports industry.
eSports viewing growing dramatically
The esports industry continues to skyrocket as shown in the viewing numbers. Esports viewing went up 19%, equaling six billion hours of viewing across the world last year. There is no sign of a slow down on the horizon as the video market is expected to deliver 1 billion US dollars in advertising revenues alone by 2020, accoriding to IHS Markit.
MotoGP owner aims to create "the most important racing esport championship"
Partnerships seem to be happening daily in the esports industry. Most recently Dorna Sport has teamed up with developer Milestone to begin a championship around the MotoGP17 game, which is being released on June 15th. The competition will be run using PlayStation in its inaugural year.
Facebook and ESL Partner for 5,500 Hours of Live Esports Tournament Coverage
Facebook will now be streaming exclusive esports events in partnership with ESL, the worlds largest esports company. The streams will include content from Rank S competitions, an elite ladder for the Counter-Strike:Global Offensive community, along with an exclusive weekly 30 minute CS:GO program which will show the best players, upcoming talent and highlights.
